ABOUT ME

I am a paediatric dentist with 30 years of clinical, academic and management experience both in Australia and the United Kingdom. I have held leadership roles in large healthcare and academic organisations including the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and the universities of Sydney, Bristol and Plymouth. I am currently Director of the Melbourne Cleft Lip/Palate Service and a research fellow at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. In have a Graduate Certificate in Coaching and have completed my executive coach certification through Coaching Australia (www.coachingaust.com). I am now enrolled on the International Coach Federation (www.coachfederation.org) credentialing pathway.

Coaching provides me with the framework and skills to facilitate individual professional development and as such I work with individuals to help them identify and develop the skills and behaviours they need to become as successful as they can.  I also work with organisations, including research institutes (e.g Murdoch Childrens Research Institute), health service providers (e.g Dental Health Services Victoria, the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne) and universities in both Australia and the United Kingdom to support their staff, at all levels, by incorporating coaching into their staff development programmes.

As a leader and now as a coach, I believe that everyone is capable of being successful given appropriate support. Over the years I have developed highly effective teams in healthcare, research and teaching environments and have rarely been disappointed in the capability of individuals to do amazing things. I am now using my professional and personal experience coupled with formal training in the theory and practice of coaching to support others in fulfilling their potential and to promote broader cultural change across the clinical and academic sectors.

I am married to a double bass player, Stuart, who challenges, motivates and keeps me grounded. I get my energy from working with others and I relax by running, playing the viola and consuming good food and wine. I am also mildly embarrassed to admit, but recently I have become rather keen on bird watching!
